New "Green" Hosting Provider !!
After a variety of issues that cropped up during our stallion service auction, we made the decision to move our website to a new and "Green" host, GreenGeeks.com.
GreenGeeks is able to provide us with the lastest webhosting software and also provide a green option for our web hosting:
In order to compensate for the power we pull from the grid we purchase wind energy credits for the energy we consume from the grid. In fact we replace, with wind power, 3 times the amount of energy used by our servers so if we pull 1X of power from the grid we purchase enough wind energy credits to put back into the grid 3X of power having been produced by wind power.
USDA Adopts Animal Disease Traceability Program
From the American Horse Council
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has instituted its Animal Disease Traceability Program (ADTP) to improve its ability to trace livestock, including horses, in the event of a disease outbreak. The new system applies to all livestock moving interstate.
Under the new federal regulations, horses moving interstate must be identified and accompanied by an Interstate Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (ICVI). The new system is built on methods of identification and movement documentation that are already employed in the horse industry, e.g., written descriptions, digital photographs, brands, tattoos, electronic identification methods, and interstate certificates of veterinary inspection. The person or entity responsible for moving the horse interstate must ensure that it has an ICVI or other document required by the new rule.
The ADTP will be administered by the states with federal support. The new rules also apply to movements to and from a Tribal area. In those cases, the Tribal authorities are involved in the system.
Serano Gold Sold to the UK
We recently reported that the Oldenburt licensed stallion Sun Gold had been sold to a competitive home in Korea. It was now announced that Sun Gold's older and likely more well-known full brother, Serano Gold, has been sold to Great Britain.
Eurodressage is reporting "The Oldenburg licensed stallion Serano Gold has been sold to Jennifer Gilchrist and will be standing at her Romanno Stud in Scotland, Great Britain."
Serano Gold (by Sandro Hit x Grundstein II x Futuro) is a 12-yr old Oldenburg, bred by Willi Gering and was previously owned by Heinz Ahlers. Serano Gold is well known in North America as the warmblood breeding group Warmblood Breeders of North America had imported Serano Gold semen to make available to North America's breeders, and there are several Serano Gold offspring in North America.
Romanno Stud has already uploaded a video of Serano Gold to YouTube for prospective breeders to view:
